Catrin and Seckou’s SOAR in Songlines Top Ten Albums of 2018!


It was announced this afternoon that Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita’s SOAR, produced by Seckou and released on the bendigedig label, has been chosen as one of Songlines Magazines Top Ten Albums of the Year 2018. The other albums selected include:

AMMAR 808 – Maghreb United (Glitterbeat)  

Anandi Bhattacharya – Joys Abound (Riverboat)

Angélique Kidjo – Remain in Light (Kravenworks) 

Jeremy Dutcher – Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa (Jeremy Dutcher/Fontana North)  

Mariza – Mariza (Warner Music)

Mehdi Rostami & Adib Rostami – Melodic Circles: Urban Classical Music from Iran (ARC Music)

Pascuala Ilabaca y su Fauna – El Mito de la Pérgola (Petit Indie)  

Small Island Big Song – Small Island Big Song (Small Island Big Song)

Various Artists – Yiddish Glory: Lost Songs of World War II (Six Degrees)

The selections were chosen by editors Jo Frost and Simon Broughton and will be featured in the Jan/Feb 2019 issue of Songlines (#144), available from December 7. 

Catrin and Seckou’s debut album Clychau Dibon was also selected as one of Songlines Top Ten Album of 2014, and won Songlines Best Cross-Cultural Collaboration the same year.
